Best Practices in hit-to-lead Optimization

Virtual Event - September 26 (16:30 to 17:30 CEST)

EFMC-YSN MedChemBioOnline is an exceptional opportunity for early career scientists who are interested in learning more about medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. This webinar is organised by the Young Scientists Network  of the European Federation for Medicinal chemistry and Chemical biology (EFMC-YSN) and is designed to provide students and young professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in these fields.

What sets EFMC-YSN MedChemBioOnline apart is its flexibility and accessibility. The webinar is free and open to everyone, making it easy to balance your attendance with other commitments. And because it's organised by EFMC-YSN, you'll have the opportunity to connect with a global community of young scientists who share your interests and goals.

Outline

The hit to lead phase is a critical phase of drug discovery programs. The first set of compounds, or hits, that demonstrate promising activity against a target of interest are further characterized. Through limited medicinal chemistry efforts, the aim is to turn these hits into leads: compounds that we believe can be optimized into drug candidates.

  • How do we select the most promising chemical matter from all hit series?
  • How do we start optimizing a scaffold?
  • How do we make sure the optimization is progressing as it should?
  • When do we know when to stop working on a chemical series?

The EFMC Best Practice in Medicinal Chemistry working group would like to share insights gathered from experienced practitioners from industry and academia. We will also illustrate the guidelines with a case study on the discovery of allosteric MALT1 inhibitor leads. Several members of the working group will be available in a round table to address any questions you may have.

Enroll today and start building your skills and your network!

Registration to the event is free and open to all thanks to the generous support of Symeres.
